Joko Tea was first brought to South Africa by the partners Glenton & Mitchell, who worked long hours packaging quality tea and delivering it by bicycle to mines, boarding houses, and restaurants. As their business grew, they invested in a wagon for deliveries. This wagon was pulled by two horses famously named Jo and Ko. From the start, Glenton & Mitchell ensured that the quality of the tea they sold was always the best. It’s been over a century since Joko Tea was delivered by that first wagon around Johannesburg, and today the rich flavour and aroma of Joko is beloved by tea drinkers countrywide.
Joko Tea is still blended and packaged in South Africa, with the same care and attention to detail that generations of tea lovers have enjoyed. We have returned to our roots with the classic red Joko packaging that celebrates that most important ritual in any day: enjoying a hot cup of strong tea.
We know that sitting down to take a break and enjoy a cup of quality tea can give you the strength you need to get through a day. From early mornings to get the kids ready for school, to fighting the traffic to and from work, nipping around the shops on your lunch break for household essentials, then the after-school run and getting dinner on the table, it’s a long day, and that’s when everything goes smoothly.
A few minutes of quiet and that first sip of aromatic Joko tea is just what you need. Enjoy the quality taste of Joko black tea at any time of the day. Joko gives you strength when you need it most.
